Preparing for Hajj is an exciting and spiritually significant journey, and one of the first steps is setting up your account on the Nusuk platform. Before you start the registration process, it's important to have the right documents and information ready. This will ensure a smooth registration experience and help you secure your Hajj package efficiently. Here's a checklist of everything you need before creating your Nusuk account. Stay tuned for an upcoming step-by-step tutorial blog on the registration process.

1. Valid Passport

Your passport is essential for both your Hajj registration and travel to Saudi Arabia. Before starting the registration process, make sure your passport meets the following criteria:

  • Validity: Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Saudi Arabia. This is a standard requirement for all international travellers visiting Saudi Arabia. Airlines will verify the validity of your passport before allowing you to board. They will check your return flight details and ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from your return date. Most pilgrims will return before the end of June 2025, so your passport should be valid until at least 1 January 2026. If it isn’t, complete registration for now, apply for a new passport and upload a new version once you receive your new passport.

Important note: We have experienced pilgrims denied to board a plane due to this validity criteria!

  • Photo and Personal Details: Nusuk will request a photo of your passport and extract personal details from it. Be prepared to double-check that your information (especially your name) is correctly read by the system, as sometimes it may be misinterpreted.

  • Proof of Residence: In some cases a proof of residence is requested. Nusuk will specify which documents you can use for this criteria.

2. Personal Photo

You’ll need to upload a personal photo to complete your Nusuk account. This can be any recent high-quality photo taken with a white background. If Nusuk doesn’t accept the photo right away, you can resize it to 200x200 pixels to ensure it meets the platform's requirements.

You can use this tool to resize your photo. Resizing may make the image look a bit wide, don’t worry—this adjustment helps ensure it is accepted by Nusuk.

3. Valid Email Address and Phone Number

For registration, you’ll need a valid email address and phone number to complete your Nusuk account. These are vital for account verification, receiving confirmation emails, and ensuring timely updates:

  • Email: Use an email address that you check regularly. This will be where you receive updates, confirmation emails, and the OTP (One-Time-Password) for logging into your account. A personal email address, such as Outlook or Gmail, is recommended to avoid delays. Refrain from using older or less accessible email systems that may slow down the process, especially during busy moments like the Hajj package sale.

  • Phone Number: Provide a reachable phone number, preferably a mobile number, to receive notifications and updates about your registration and Hajj package.

Accurate contact information is essential for smooth communication throughout your Hajj planning. It is the only way to get contacted by your package provider once you buy your Hajj Package. Use your personal email and phone number!

4. Emergency Contact Information

It’s important to add an emergency contact to your Nusuk account for added security during your journey. This person should be someone you trust and who can be reached during the Hajj period in case of any emergency. Let this be someone who is not travelling with you. Here’s the information you’ll need for your emergency contact:

  • Full name

  • Phone number

  • Relationship to you (e.g., spouse, parent, friend)

You should also inform your emergency contact about any relevant health information, so they are prepared in case of an emergency during your trip.

5. Individual Accounts for Each Person

Each individual intending to perform Hajj must create their own Nusuk account. While you can later add family (or members (or friends) during the registration process, every person must have their own account verified first. Once individual accounts are verified, you can add up to 8 family members under one account to streamline the booking process.

Stay tuned for upcoming blogs, where we’ll provide more details on how to link family members and navigate the entire registration process.

6. Digital Payment Method (Not Needed for Registration, but a Helpful Tip)

Warning: Do not pay others or travel agencies directly for your Hajj package. Always use the official Nusuk platform to secure your package. Be aware of scams and avoid becoming a victim of fraudulent agencies promising quick bookings or discounted prices.

While setting up your Nusuk wallet for payment is only possible after registration and account verification, it is essential when the Hajj packages go live. The payment process for securing Hajj packages will be available after the registration phase, and it’s crucial to be ready once the packages are posted online.

Tip: Set Up a Revolut Account in the Meantime

Though not needed for the registration process, having a Revolut account can help reduce costs when paying for packages in Saudi Riyal (SAR). Revolut generally offers lower transfer fees and better exchange rates compared to most traditional UK banks (HSBC, Barclays, Natwest, Lloyds etc) making it a useful tool when booking your Hajj package.

Setting up a Revolut account is fast and you can instantly access digital card details to make online payments. You can also order a physical card, which can be handy for expenses during your stay in Saudi Arabia or anywhere else on the planet. Sign up for your free Revolut account here and be ready when it's time to make your payment. Get familiar with Revolut for the meantime.
